The urge to fill wall space with a television or projection system can be undeniable if you have the real estate available in your home, particularly if you have been itching to upgrade an old home theater system.
Size In terms of scale, TVs were once woefully behind projectors, but the distance is much closer these days. Today, for less than $3,000, you can get an 85-inch TV. Affordable projection screens appear to start at about 100-120 inches, however, and for much less than a high-end 4K UHD TV, you can get a decent projector with solid brightness, good color reproduction, and even 4K resolution. In order to ensure that the image does not wash out, the more ambient light in a room, the more brightness you will need. Contrast A mixture of black levels and light defines the contrast. Although the brightness capabilities of a projector can be guessed by looking at its lumen rating, black levels are often determined by how dark you can make your projection space. The Resolution Premium 4K TVs are costly, with their wide color gamut and high dynamic range (there's that contrast thing again!). But 4K HDR projectors with high performance? Astro. Astronomical. Color Accuracy You don't have to spend an arm and a leg on a projector to get a good color. You may achieve great color at a nice price depending on the type of projector (DLP, 3-chip LCD, or LCOS). On the other hand, to produce the best color, TVs need more effort and better processing, thus pushing up the price. Some projectors have speakers, of course, but with the exception of the latest models we described above, which are laser-based.
